Happy New Year!

Oh, what a year 2009 has been. From the inauguration of the country’s first black president to the passage of the country’s worst social program, the year certainly hasn’t been dull.
I want to take some time to thank you, dear readers, for continuing to support this blog. We will end the year with 4x the [...]

The Right is neither brain-dead or too big to fail

In fact, the American Right is brainy and certainly enormous, considering that the majority of citizens identify with conservative principles. If conservatism fails then America fails. Period.
Steven Hayward of The Washington Post thinks conservatism has an intellectual problem:
Today, however, the conservative movement has been thrown off balance, with the populists dominating and the intellectuals retreating [...]

New Facebook ad attacks Palin

Sarah Palin brought the “death panel” into the health care debate and provided more ammunition for the opposition. Now that she’s no longer in political office, she’s masterfully utilizing new media like Facebook and Twitter to make an impact. Her influence is still so great that a group, Americans United For Change, is running a [...]

China learns lesson from Iran in dealing with Xinjiang protests

Tweets about the Iran election continue to pour in, making #IranElection still a top Twitter trend. But you’re not going to see many tweets about, say, the deadly protests in China’s remote Urumqi, Xinjiang province where 140 have died.
Communist China, the operator of the world’s largest firewall (often dubbed the “Great Firewall of China”), learned [...]

In Iran, revolution and crisis

On Friday Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Iranians of dire consequences should they continue anti-government street protests. His warnings were heard, of course, but as today’s events illustrate, Iranians are ready to give their lives for a better future.
Reports of violence and death keep coming from Iran via Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. It’s confirmed [...]

The young man that convinced Twitter to stay open for Iran

Here’s a fascinating tidbit related to the current Iran protests. The gentleman from the State Department who talked to Twitter about delaying its maintenance window (so that it falls on late night, Iran time) is Jared Cohen, a member of the Policy Planning Staff. More about this young gentleman:
And imagine our further surprise when we [...]

Green theme in support of Iranian protests

The post-election protests in Iran continue for the third day. Major news outlets are starting to cover it now (people are back to work on Monday?), but the best immediate coverage is still on Twitter, hands down.
This blog now sports more green in support of a free Iran.

It’s official: Administration sees conservatives as “rightwing extremists”

This is unbelievable. Michelle Malkin confirms the validity of this DHS report about “rightwing extremism” after Obama’s historic election. Check out this footnote on page 2:
(U) Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or [...]

Conservatives leading in tweets

Liberals may have a strong grip on the mainstream media, but conservatives are dominating Twitter usage, notably with the most popular #tcot hashtag. Conservative tweets are gathering so much steam that liberals are paying attention and trying to counter the #tcot wave. Thanks to the efforts of Republican strategist Michael P. Leahy, there’s even a [...]
