Going independent for Crist’s sake

Doesn’t the Republican establishment look foolish now? The NRSC’s original candidate now bolts out of the GOP, with their money, to run as an independent just to stay in to fight for Florida’s U.S. Senate seat. Conservatives-backed Marco Rubio (R) leads double digits in recent polls against Crist, and the Republican Party has asked Crist [...]

Republicans retreat from repealing ObamaCare

It appears that the Republicans were fairly confident that ObamaCare wouldn’t have passed the House and was caught off guard by the bill’s passage of 219-212. Oooops, like I’d posted, don’t underestimate the president. Originally the GOP’s strategy was to focus on efforts to repeal the law, which to this day is still as unpopular [...]

Rep. Kingston’s midnight in the garden of good and evil

Georgia Congressman Jack Kingston (R) was among the few Republicans in attendance during President Obama’s visit to Savannah on Tuesday to talk about jobs and energy. The other prominent Republican was Gov. Sonny Perdue who isn’t running for re-election. Some would question the wisdom of Rep. Kingston’s decision to be seen side by side with [...]

Gov. Charlie Crist is lagging behind GOP primary challenger Marco Rubio in his bid for the U.S. Senate and may soon abandon the Republican Party to run as an independent: Two highly placed and independent sources, speaking strictly on background, tell me that Gov. Charlie Crist is preparing to leave the Republican Party and run [...]

Health care summit, prelude to reconciliation

President Obama’s bipartisan health care summit is nothing more than a show. There are fundamental differences between Republican and Democrat ideas on health care reform, and there’s no way they will be resolved by the end of the summit (4:15pm ET, according to the president). This summit is a waste of time and energy and [...]

Circumstances favor fiscal conservative, social moderate Charles Djou in Hawaii

Many Republicans are looking to the Hawaii 1st Congressional District race for the next Scott Brown moment. Honolulu City Councilman Charles Djou (R) has a good chance of winning the seat because the May special election has no primaries and multiple Democratic candidates are likely to split votes, giving him an advantage. Even similarities have [...]

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has hired Barry Jackson as his new chief of staff to replace Paula Nowakowski who passed away earlier this month. Although Jackson has a history with Boehner, this is an encouraging sign as Jackson was heavily involved in drafting the Republican’s Contract with America. Could this mean that House [...]

The Illinois Republican Primary runs on February 2, which is just around the corner. The candidates fighting to represent the GOP are Mark Kirk and Patrick Hughes. Kirk voted for cap-and-trade, a bill that definitely hurts the state more than anything. That has proven him to be unpopular with the conservative voters. Hughes being the [...]
