Late on Iran, wrong about Honduras

President Obama seems a bit confused when it comes to foreign policy. He’s ticked off the Brits, French, and Germans in Europe, shown no support for the oppressed Iranian protesters over a fradulent election, and now he is backing Honduran President Manuel Zelaya (a friend of Chavez and Castro, by the way).
President Zelaya wants to [...]

Obama gets no love from Latin America, either

I hate to say it, Mr. President, but America’s global reputation isn’t improving much with you sitting in the White House, either. Europe already gave you the cold shoulder. Now you’re at the Summit of the Americas, and you’re not getting a warm reception. The only “friendly” leader turns out to be Venezuelan President Hugo [...]

Global economic downturn hurts Chavez’s socialist agenda

Tough guy Hugo Chavez doesn’t seem so tough anymore now that the global economic downturn and plunge in oil price is hurting his income, and hence his goal of turning Venezuela into a socialist mecca. After having some fun seizing foreign oil company properties and harassing them with tax officials, he’s now soliciting bids for these oil [...]

More insults from Chavez

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez had the nerve to sensationalize our current economic troubles and lobbed another insult at President Bush while proclaiming “Socialism is the only route to the salvation of the world.”
No thanks, Mr. Chavez. Capitalism may not be perfect and has its ups and downs, but most Americans know socialism is far worse.

Chavez tells us to go to hell, threatens oil supply

Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez expels the U.S. ambassador ”in solidarity with Bolivia.” In a political rally he tells his supporters that “Yankees…go to hell a hundred times.”

The U.S. is Venezeula’s biggest oil customer, so one can imagine how much of Venezuela’s economy depends on oil exports. Is Chavez stupid enough to halt oil exports to the U.S.? [...]
