The news just keeps getting worse for New York Gov. David Paterson… Not only has a scandal involving his aide cost him his re-election, but now as more details emerge Paterson may be facing criminal charges:
Mr. Paterson instructed his press secretary, Marissa Shorenstein, to ask the woman to publicly describe the episode as nonviolent, according [...]
The end of Paterson’s political career
Paterson to quit re-election bid
After insisting on going through re-election, New York Gov. David Paterson will now abandon his re-election hopes but will serve out his current term. The Democrat establishment always had somebody else in mind for that job: Andrew Cuomo. I think the establishment finally got what it wanted with the revelation of a scandal:
Paterson has been [...]

Virginia Asian voters swung from Obama to McDonnell
The League of New Voters tipped me on some intriguing statistics on the role of Asian American voters in the recent Virginia gubernatorial race between Bob McDonnell (R) and Creigh Deeds (D), and this revelation:
Virginia’s Asian American votes made a key difference in this contest and reversed the trend of Election 2008 where Asian Americans [...]
Blame Obama, blame Biden, blame Dede, blame GOP, but don’t blame conservatives
Republicans claim two new governorships in Virginia (Bob McDonnell) and New Jersey (Chris Christie), but lost by a small margin in the drama that is NY-23. The flood of high profile endorsements from Palin, et. al. was not able to carry Doug Hoffman over the winning edge. However, had Dede Scozzafava bowed out of the [...]

Major news outlets are calling Chris Christie (R) as New Jersey’s new governor. This was thought to be a close race, but in the end Christie could end up with a 5-point margin over incumbent Jon Corzine (D).

Famous San Francisco liberal mayor Gavin Newsom calls it quits in the state’s governor race:

White House: Corzine, you need an intervention!
Gov. Jon Corzine (D-NJ) is fighting for the political battle of his life in seeking re-election. His main opponent is Chris Christie (R-NJ), but the governor also faces a cloud of uncertainty from independent candidate Chris Daggett. Polls have suggested a statistical tie between Corzine and Christie, and in light of the nation’s current political [...]
Deeds faces uphill battle, distanced by top Democrats
The White House and top Democrats seem to have given up on Creigh Deeds’ (D) campaign in Virginia’s governor race and are prepared to distance themselves from him.
Senior administration officials have expressed frustration with how Democrat R. Creigh Deeds has handled his campaign for governor, refusing early offers of strategic advice and failing to reach [...]
McDonnell pulls ahead, Rubio picks up Inhofe endorsement
A couple pieces of good news on the campaign front:
Republican Bob McDonnell polls +8 against Deeds in the Virginia gubernatorial race. Also check out McDonnell’s overwhelming support among Asian-Americans in the state (h/t binghe).
In Florida, Marco Rubio gets the thumbs up from conservative Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), reject the GOP establishment’s backing of Gov. Charlie [...]
Is Obama giving up on Deeds?
The gubernatorial race in Virginia is heating up and Republican candidate Bob McDonnell is polling double digits ahead of Democrat Creigh Deeds. The swing state supported Obama during the presidential election, but now President Obama may not find it useful to visit Virginia in support of Deeds.
This election has garnered so much attention from both [...]
Black president doesn’t think black governor is popular enough
Did the Obama administration ask New York Gov. David Paterson not to seek re-election because Paterson’s polls suck?
Look who’s talking, right? Gov. Paterson’s office ought to advise the president not to seek re-election in 2012 then.

The Left is obsessed with Sarah Palin
It’s been almost a week since Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) abruptly announced her resignation, and while most of the media was abuzz about this news for the following few days with analysis and commentaries, almost everyone agreed that nobody knows what she’s up to, as David Warren opines:
I doubt Palin has any specific plan, [...]
Gov. Palin gambles political future
Step aside, Kim Jong-il, the U.S. news cycles this Fourth of July weekend aren’t going to be about your threatened missile launch aiming at Hawaii. Americans want to know why Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) decided to step down mid-term.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will become the new governor of Alaska in the end of July.
