After insisting on going through re-election, New York Gov. David Paterson will now abandon his re-election hopes but will serve out his current term. Rumor has it that New York Gov. Paterson has met with Democrat leaders to discuss him stepping down in anticipation of a NYT “bombshell” story about the governor. Oh, that and the question of his re-electability.

Major news outlets are calling Chris Christie (R) as New Jersey’s new governor. This was thought to be a close race, but in the end Christie could end up with a 5-point margin over incumbent Jon Corzine (D).

Republican Bob McDonnell is projected to become the new governor of Virginia after tonight’s election. Joining him in victory will be other Republicans — Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.
As of this post McDonnell has 60% of the votes. Now that’s a mandate!
