Massa points finger at Democrat leaders

Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) has a theory: his own party’s leaders are behind the ethics investigation to force his resignation. According to the embattled congressman, House leaders and the White House weren’t too happy about his nay votes on health care and cap and trade, and have figured that getting rid of him would be [...]

Moderate Democrats could abort ObamaCare

The current ObamaCare proposal does not satisfy some Democrats because of the abortion issue, and these members of Congress have publicly declared their opposition to the bill. Again, it is Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) leading the charge:
“Yes. We’re prepared to take responsibility,” Stupak said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” when asked if he and his [...]

The news just keeps getting worse for New York Gov. David Paterson… Not only has a scandal involving his aide cost him his re-election, but now as more details emerge Paterson may be facing criminal charges:

The clustering Arkansas senate race

Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) — already trailing against possible Republican challengers — will now have to face one of her own. Lt. Gov. Bill Halter has decided to enter the Democrat primary race against Lincoln:
Arkansas Lt. Gov. Bill Halter unexpectedly announced Monday that he would challenge Sen. Blanche Lincoln in the Democratic primary this year.
“Washington [...]

House Democrats wanted bill to penalize CIA agents

Actions speak louder than words, and as much as Democrats decry accusations pinning them as national security softies, there’s a very good reason for it. Consider what the House Democrats tried to sneak into the intelligence authorization bill:
Democrats inserted an 11-page addition into the bill late Wednesday night as the House Rules Committee considered the [...]

Paterson to quit re-election bid

After insisting on going through re-election, New York Gov. David Paterson will now abandon his re-election hopes but will serve out his current term. The Democrat establishment always had somebody else in mind for that job: Andrew Cuomo. I think the establishment finally got what it wanted with the revelation of a scandal:
Paterson has been [...]

Unethical Rangel

The House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct has found Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) to be in ethics violation stemming from trips he took to the Caribbean:
The House ethics panel has been investigating several trips taken by Mr. Rangel and several other Democratic lawmakers in 2007 and 2008. The investigation looked at travel by Mr. Rangel [...]

Health care summit, prelude to reconciliation

President Obama’s bipartisan health care summit is nothing more than a show. There are fundamental differences between Republican and Democrat ideas on health care reform, and there’s no way they will be resolved by the end of the summit (4:15pm ET, according to the president). This summit is a waste of time and energy and [...]

‘Pay to go’ in Pennsylvania Democrat primary?

Interesting news coming out of Pennsylvania — Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) revealed that the Obama administration offered him a federal job in exchange for him not challenging Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) in the Democrat primary:

The Democrat health care zombie

This thing just won’t die…
Lead zombie President Obama is readying a merged House and Senate health care bill, without any Republican participation, to be presented as early as Sunday or Monday. And the Democrats are going to rush it through by reconciliation:
Those agreements are likely to be combined as a privileged budget reconciliation bill, which [...]

Sen. Bayh bailing out

The Democrats continue hemorrhaging their own as Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) announces that he won’t seek re-election. The reason? Utter frustration:
“Two weeks ago, the Senate voted down a bipartisan commission to deal with one of the greatest threats facing our nation: our exploding deficits and debt. The measure would have passed, but seven members who [...]

Rep. Patrick Kennedy to retire

Another Democrat in Congress is bailing out: Rep. Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island. The son of late Sen. Ted Kennedy will not seek re-election, announcing his retirement. He’s served eight terms and is only 42 years old.
Scott Brown’s victory really struck a nerve in Washington, and especially to New England, a traditionally liberal stronghold.
