Blame Obama, blame Biden, blame Dede, blame GOP, but don’t blame conservatives

Republicans claim two new governorships in Virginia (Bob McDonnell) and New Jersey (Chris Christie), but lost by a small margin in the drama that is NY-23. The flood of high profile endorsements from Palin, et. al. was not able to carry Doug Hoffman over the winning edge. However, had Dede Scozzafava bowed out of the [...]

How Dede was wooed by Democrats

Soon after Dede Scozzafava (R-NY) dropped out of the NY-23 race, top Democrats began wooing her to endorse Bill Owens (D-NY). Among those engaged in luring her to the “dark side” included Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY), Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, N.Y. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, and even Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY). Even the White House [...]

A RINO bites back, sickens GOP

Just not long ago Dede Scozzafava (R-NY) bowed out (or pushed out) of the NY-23 race, but soon enough she’s showing her true colors by publicly supporting Bill Owens (D-NY) against surging Doug Hoffman:
I want to thank you for your support and friendship. Over the past 24 hours, I have had encouraging words sent to [...]

The dawn of a new political party: the Tea Party?

There is a new political force sweeping the nation, a force that’s united, organized, and very passionate. And today it proved to the political establishments and institutions that it has the ability to influence a campaign like the NRCC and DCCC, except it has no deep pockets and no national leadership.
It did it with principles. [...]

Thanks, Dede, for suspending campaign

Dede Scozzafava (R-NY) has dropped out of the NY-23 race. Although her name will remain on the ballot, it’s now a Hoffman vs. Ownes (D) race, and the momentum is on Hoffman’s side.
From Scozzafava’s campaign website:

Dear Friends and Supporters:
Throughout the course of my campaign for Congress, I have made the people of the 23rd District [...]

NRCC concedes defeat, pulls resources from NY-23 race

Right on the heels of former N.Y. Gov. George Pataki’s (R) endorsement, among many others, of Doug Hoffman, today we hear news that the NRCC is giving up fighting for Dede Scozzafava (R) and retreating from the battlefield.
It’s now officially a Hoffman vs. Owens (D) race, as much as Scozzafava’s camp tries to deny it.
This [...]

NRCC in Riehl trouble

Newt Gingrich and RNC Chairman Michael Steele have endorsed RINO Dede Scozzafava (R-NY) for NY-23, against the tide of other prominent Republicans (e.g. Sarah Palin, Fred Thompson, Tim Pawlenty, etc.) and confounding conservatives. The main explanation from Scozzafava supporters is that they are respecting and recognizing the choice made by the local GOP leaders.
But is [...]

The line is drawn: NRCC attacks Hoffman, conservatives

The NY-23 special election between Dede Scozzafava (R) vs. Doug Hoffman (Conservative Party) vs. Bill Owens (D) is one week away and the drama has been nonstop.
Hoffman has the support of many well-known conservatives, from talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin, to former Republican office holders Sarah Palin (R-AK), Fred Thompson (R-TN), Dick [...]

Newt doesn’t get it

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has taken a lot of heat with his endorsement of RINO Dede Scozzafava for NY-23, but lately he’s been appearing on TV a lot and speaking at events to counter his conservative critics and to explain his reasoning:
“I just think it is a mistake for the conservative movement to think [...]

Scozzafava campaign funnels funds to family

More dirty laundry coming from Dede Scozzafava (R-NY) and her campaign. This time it’s about the mishmash of business entities linked to her and her family members. From RedState:
Dede’s brother is Thomas W. Scozzafava and he is married to Pearl Han Ashcraft.
Dede Scozzafava’s campaign has paid $3750.00 in disclosed expenses to Pearl Han Productions, LLC [...]

Hoffman receives Palin endorsement

Sarah Palin finally makes a big endorsement since resigning as governor of Alaska: Doug Hoffman for NY-23. Well, that may just put the last nails on the coffin regarding Dede Scozzafava’s troubled campaign.
From her written statement:
The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is [...]

Dede Scozzafava, withdraw now. We don’t need another liberal politician and, worse yet, journalist harasser in Congress. (We already have the White House gang doing that.)

Does Scozzafava spell the end of GOP?

The NRCC sure stepped on a conservative ant hill that is the NY-23 special election. Even more mind boggling is that somebody like Newt Gingrich, a high profile Republican politician and so-called conservative champion, would happily stick his hands into the mob of ants.
Ouch. I bet that really hurts. Not just to Gingrich, but the [...]

GOP, we have a problem

The Republican Party establishment just can’t seem to earn our trust anymore, and eventually will be shamed by conservatives for the positions the party has taken and the candidates it endorses.
The NRCC endorsed Dede Scozzafava (NY) to run for the November 3, 2009 special election. Never mind that she’s got a voting history closer aligned [...]

The GOP is about winning power, not serving conservatives

How else would you explain the endorsement of Dede Scozzafava to run in a N.Y. House special election?
Yes, winning an election is important. But so is support from the conservative base.
The Republican Party needs to do the right thing for its candidates to be rewarded handsomely in 2010 and 2012. Seriously.
