Right on the heels of former N.Y. Gov. George Pataki’s (R) endorsement, among many others, of Doug Hoffman, today we hear news that the NRCC is giving up fighting for Dede Scozzafava (R) and retreating from the battlefield.

It’s now officially a Hoffman vs. Owens (D) race, as much as Scozzafava’s camp tries to deny it.

This is monumental. There are people who say that this will divide the Republican Party further more and harm its chances to regain power. The other side says that this will ensure conservatives are finally heard and help the GOP if it finally aligns itself with true conservative principles.

But one thing is clear: This movement — or whatever you wish to call it — ought to rattle any political establishment.
